Good evening everyone,

 My name is Dera. I recently created this blog, and by recently I mean thirty minutes ago. It's been a dream of mine really -having a blog- but I've lacked the commitment for a while. This is my official do over. Welcome to Dera's Diary!!! Here, I'll be talking about my views, opinions and experiences. Hopefully over time, you'll feel comfortable enough to share yours too. I intend to be brutally honest, hence the "diary" part of the name. I hope you can handle it!

Was MJ right?

Hello, Recently, I feel like my family has been going through a lot of hard stuff. Some things are inconveniences and some other things are life changing, but I think the real challenge is the way each challenge seems to come simultaneously. That has be really hard. I know that we are definitely not alone in this and that there are so many of us out here who legitimately feel like we just can't catch a break; one thing after another attacks which leads to this overriding feeling of fear, anxiety and hopelessness. I was listening to a song today and was reminded that even though gratitude does not change our situation, it changes us. Are you a perfectionist?

To all the perfectionists out there, I woke up on Monday less tired than normal. I go on walks with my mum every now and then and we have to wake up super early so that my mum's ready for work on time. We started walking and all of sudden I started feeling tired. My mum walks pretty fast (even though she'd disagree) and at first I thought it was just that. But the tiredness was deeper than that. I'm not being dramatic. I felt drained from the inside out. I felt tired of trying to catch up to my mum and tired of trying to be better behaviour-wise, cooking-wise and failing. And so my body responded in the only way it knew how; I cried. Before Monday, I would never have called myself a perfectionist. But after a conversation with my mum and some careful, but painful reflection, I realised I was beating myself down for my mistakes and my slip-ups which are completely natural. Day 14: HOMECOMING!!!

Hello there diary, It's been an interesting week. Day 14 of my quarantine was on Monday, and so the fam and I expected to be going home on Tuesday or that Monday. The hotel we're staying at sends messages to all the rooms through the TV. They started sending messages that we would have to stay for another two weeks because we were in a site that had people that tested positive for the virus. Don't get me wrong, I understand where they were coming from. They didn't want to release us if we could've been exposed. The problem was that they were the ones that said (through those messages) that people could come out to stretch their legs in the middle of the first week (giving people the opportunity to spread and contract whatever). Apart from that, my family and I had maintained minimal contact with people and we didn't come out to "stretch our legs". Like come on guys!!! You can stretch your legs in your room. This is a pandemic for crying out loud!...
